Standout Juni Students
Our students at Juni Learning are constantly challenging themselves and demonstrating their passion and creativity in Computer Science. The progress that students make in a short amount of time always amazes us, their parents, and sometimes themselves!
Once again, to recognize their hard work and creativity, we are excited to present our Project of the Month winners. We've enlisted our instructors, each hand-picked from top U.S. colleges like Stanford, Harvard, UC Berkeley, and MIT, to nominate their students and recognize their stellar programming projects.
For July 2020, we proudly award Juni Project of the Month to Ava G., Rasika B., George G., Theo N., and Kavya Y. for excellence in their respective projects! With all the amazing submissions from the thousands of students at Juni, it was truly a challenge to select the winners — which is why we are running this contest on a monthly basis!
Ava G., 14 Years Old
“Ava's great sense of creativity and logic shines in her master project!
"Her mini golf project was no easy feat; she was able to figure out how to bounce the ball in corners, move the ball accordingly using arrow keys, and change the speed to the ball depending on its distance.
"As her instructor, I think Ava did an amazing job applying the concepts we learned in Python Level 1, and her project is definitely worthy of an award. Good job Ava!”
- Eugina P., Juni Instructor, University of California, San Diego
Ava G.'s Project: Mini Golf Project (Python Level 1, Master Project)
Rasika B., 12 Years Old
“Rasika really challenged herself with this project! Honestly it's like four projects in one since each level of her house has a different concept, and each level builds on the difficulty.
"Since there was a lot going on in her code, it was easy for things to go wrong, but Rasika really put in the effort and patience to work through all the bugs and logic errors. Overall, I think her project was able to show her creative side, as well as how much she learned throughout the course!”
- Ying Z., Juni Instructor, Johns Hopkins University
Rasika B.'s Project: Escape House (Python Level 1, Master Project)
George G., 12 Years Old
“George spent an INCREDIBLE amount of time and thought on his Python Lvl 3 Master project. He ended up choosing to analyze the most common words of English, and the resulting graphs look absolutely incredible.
"His project is unique from other Python Level 3 master projects. While students are only required to use one method of analysis, George went above and beyond to use all three methods he learned in this course.
"What a process! I'm really impressed by his tenacity. Even though he didn't intend for the project to be so complicated at first, he followed through and was able to fully utilize all of the skills he learned in Python Level 3.”
- George O., Juni Instructor, UCLA
George G.'s Project: Top 1000 Most Common Words and Similarities Between Them (Python Level 3, Master Project)
Theo N., 6 Years Old
“Theo is a super sweet, energetic and attentive student! He brings his unique creativity to every class and always asks great questions.
"He really put a lot of effort into his Scratch 1 Master Project and created a super cool underwater search game, learning about new concepts along the way!”
- De'Aira B., Juni Instructor, Georgia Tech
Theo N.'s Project: Under Water Search (Scratch Level 1, Master Project)
Kavya Y., 8 Years Old
“Kavya has shown an incredible amount of initiative inside and outside of class. Between classes, she explores Scratch through youtube tutorials and enjoys her homework so much that she often completes entire modules on her own.
"During class, she picks up new ideas very quickly and is full of inquisitive questions that demonstrate a true understanding of Scratch. I think Kavya is an exemplar student in both her understanding and love for the subject.
"I am very proud of her progress and am excited to share one of her Scratch Level 2 master projects.”
- Katharine L., Juni Instructor, Johns Hopkins University
Kavya Y.'s Project: Learning a Language! (Scratch Level 2, Master Project)
More coming next month!
