As any Juni student knows, it’s always a great feeling when you’re recognized for something you’re passionate about. On June 9th, Juni Learning received the "Best Tutoring Solution Award" from EdTech Breakthrough, a leading market intelligence organization that recognizes top companies in the global educational technology market.

“We devised a unique path to student success that teaches kids to start early and learn by doing, so Juni’s students develop the creativity, confidence and grit required to become tomorrow’s leaders,” said Vivian Shen, our co-founder and CEO. “We are thrilled to win this award from EdTech Breakthrough and will use it as further inspiration on the road to provide kids meaningful learning experiences.”

Joining a great class of distinguished educators

The EdTech Breakthrough Awards honors excellence and recognizes innovation, hard work, and success in a range of educational technology categories, including Student Engagement, School Administration, Adaptive Learning, STEM Education, e-Learning, Career Preparation, and many more. This year’s program included more than 2,000 nominations from over 17 different countries throughout the world.

Now in its third year, the EdTech Breakthrough Awards Program also recognized some amazing and established learning companies like Cengage Learning, Rosetta Stone, and Houghton Mifflin Harcourt. It’s truly an honor to be in such great company!

So much more than tutoring

“Best Tutoring Solution” means a lot—as it captures part of what really makes Juni special: Our dedication to personalized, 1:1 learning so that every student can pursue their passions and take learning far beyond the classroom. Unlike a traditional tutoring service, Juni’s instructors are evaluated and hired through a rigorous application process. While subject matter expertise and credentials from top institutions, such as Stanford and Johns Hopkins are required—that’s only the beginning. In every instructor, we look for special communication and personal skills that help them take a friendly, flexible approach in teaching your child, so your child learns at their own pace and is fully engaged and invested in the work.

Additionally, our programs are project based and progressive. A traditional tutoring service may coach a child on a specific skill and end once a certain grade is achieved or when the big test is over. Juni is focused on strengthening your child’s critical learning skills, strengthening with every lesson and reinforcing other skills across English, Math, and Computer Science.

And finally, your child works with the same instructor for each program, building a personal relationship and finding a mentor who can guide them as they reach their goals. In our core programs, your child will work on a project in one of our programs (coding a video game, if one example in our Computer Science track) during 50-minute sessions with their instructor. Parents always have full access to control their student’s class schedule, get progress updates, and can view the work-in-progress and completed projects at any time.

Where Juni goes beyond the lessons is Juni Clubs, where your child can connect with other Juni students and instructors in a safe environment to work on independent projects, talk about hobbies like Minecraft and Pokemon, or just hangout.

We feel lucky to be honored for our innovative approach to learning, and we’re also excited to have your child and others out there take advantage of our programs and become active members in the Juni community.
